Gracious Giving

The holidays have a way of bringing warmth back into our lives. Something about sparkling trees adorned with ribbons, ornaments and presents stacked high give a feeling of enthusiasm for the season. Kicking off with thanksgiving, these last months of the year are especially memorable. They bring back giving souls and feelings of gratitude for the past year and all that the holidays have to offer. We buy presents for those we love and give to the less fortunate. We donate a little more and think about ourselves a little less. We think more with our hearts and it’s defintely reflected within our souls.

This week my inspiration is from 1 Samuel 16: 7:

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart’.”

While some people are out shopping and decorating their homes to impress others, there are people out to express gratitude for others. Shopping to find the perfect gift to put a smile on your loved ones face. Opting in for the thanksgiving in a bag to put a warm meal on a deserving family’s table. It’s not about having the most expensive gifts or acquiring the most at this time. This is a season of thanks and a season for giving. With this verse of inspiration in mind, we can use it to further influence the way we go about the season. While outside appearances and material things are being judged on earth, God is looking to our hearts and how we are using them. God sees your heart and the life you’re living and deems you worthy because of how you give.

Everyone deserves to feel loved and warm during this season. Those not fortunate enough to buy the food or the gifts under the tree, those who feel less than worthy, those that struggle to just be. Those people are the ones that especially deserve to feel the warmth and gratitude this holiday season. So, with your giving heart and warm nature, give to those. Not just so God can see that, but for your own satisfaction of knowing you’re doing something good for someone else’s benefit. Think with your heart this holiday season. Give graciously and be outrageously thankful.

Giving back will never go out of style,

T
